The Barrett Track Arm Sofa is modeled in a clean modern style. The square structure, minimalist design and tight upholstery make this piece more conservative and excellent for offices and modern living spaces.
A nice feature of the three seat sectional is that the chaise lounge cushion is supported by a portable foot piece. This feature allows you to change the lounge side from right to left by flipping the cushion and moving the foot support. The foot piece also opens to reveal a convenient storage space. If you’re thinking about investing in a piece of furniture but aren't sure if you will move, this feature provides more flexibility.
The back cushions and seat cushions are reversible and removable, making them easy to clean.

In terms of comfort, the Crate & Barrel Barrett Track Arm Sofa is firm, yet supportive. The couch positions you in an upright posture, although you can lean back a bit. The chaise lounge and ottoman options provide added comfort for extended reclining.
With a depth of 36 inches the Barrett collection is on the shallower side. The height of 30 inches provides sufficient back support; however the shallow depth and low back height aren’t conducive to couch potato - netflix binge slouching. Without the ottoman or chaise I didn't feel like my neck was fully supported.
The 5 inch track arms are well positioned to support your arm and high enough to lean against if you want to put a cushion behind your back with your feet up.
Overall, the the couch comfortable but not a deep dive sofa.

The Crate & Barrel Barrett collection is available in a wide variety of fabrics and configurations.
In terms of fabrics, Crate & Barrel offers most products, including the Barrett collection, in a limited number of stock options. Stock options can be returned within 30 days for a full refund; customers only have to pay for return shipping. That said, there are dozens of custom fabric colors and materials available; however, custom pieces aren’t refundable.
The Barrett collection features a Galaxy Ash basket weave Shield ® polyester option as well as a View Otter polyester velvet. The leather version comes stock with a brownish top grain Libby Storm upholstery. The Crate & Barrel Barrett Sofa collection is constructed in North Carolina with American and foreign made materials. While some custom fabrics are made in the USA, the stock options are made in China.

Frame: Benchmade with FSC-certified sustainable hardwood and kiln dried to avoid water damage, the Barrett is made to last. The cushions are supported with Flexolator springs for support and flexibility. The legs are made of hard plastc.
Fabric: Due to the large variety of custom fabrics available, this sofa review focuses on soley the specifics of stock fabric options.
The Galaxy Ash is tightly woven with dyed polyester, displaying a rich array of colors. The stain resistant Shield® fabric is durably made to resist stains and fading and can be cleaned with bleach.
The View Otter fabric is made of soft polyester velvet that’s smooth to the touch and made for durability. This stain resistant material is engineered for easy cleaning and frequent sitters.
Cushions: The seat cushions are crafted with a poly foam core, wrapped with a soy-based foam and fluffed with sythenticing ticking. The back cushions are also filled with synthetic ticking.
Overall quality: The craftsmanship and materials used make the Crate & Barrel Barrett collection are durable and well made. The manufacturer's 7-year warranty is a nice security that this sofa will last.

Crate & Barrel is actively working to create safe and sustainable products. The use of FSC sustainable hardwood and soy-based foam is beyond the norm for mass-market furniture. That said, there are even more sustainable products made of natural rubbers and other eco-friendly materials; however, for the price the Crate & Barrel Barrett collection proves itself to be an affordable, healthy and sustainable sofa.
