The two seater pull out sleeper sofa bed is compact and easy to convert from a seating to sleeping position. With a total width of 58 inches, the DHP Premium Sofa Bed is well designed for tight spaces and dual functionality.

 

The sofa bed is styled with rounded armrests (6.5”), which offer a nice contrast to its rectangular frame.

 

While the functionality makes this an attractive twin sofa bed, the backrest is configured in an odd fashion. The frame support that holds up the back cushions only reaches halfway to the top of the cushion. This poorly designed structural element effects comfort, which I will discuss more below.

 

Neither the back cushions or seat cushions are reversible, which makes me question how the sofa will wear.

 

On the bright side, the faux leather fabric is stain resistant; so, if you spill something and clean it promptly, it probably won’t stain.

Considering this is a sofa bed, the comfort section of this sleeper sofa review will feature feedback for the sitting and sleeping positions.

In the seated position, the DHP Premium Sofa Bed is not very comfortable. The cushions are thin and the half backrest didn’t provide adequate support for really reclining.

 

The back cushions would sometimes slip out of place, which was also annoying.

 

It was decently comfortable to sit upright on the couch, but this is not a great sofa for Netflix binges.

 

Sleeping: ★★★.5

 

In contrast to the sitting position, the sleeper bed was fairly comfortable.

 

The frame provides adequate support to prevent sagging. The mattress is only 3” thick but was firm enough to support my back and soft enough to relax into.   The construction and thin mattress is fine for a night or two.

This twin size pull out sleeper bed is made for a single person and not meant to withstand over 400 lbs.

This top selling Amazon sofa bed is made in China and is comprised of the following materials.

Frame: The frame is made with plywood. The bedframe is made with metal side paneling and cross beams. The there are also a plastic tarp and spring mesh to support the mattress.

Fabric: The black sleeper sofa fabric is made of 100% synthetic faux leather. The gray model is linen.

Cushions: These are comprised of a polyfill.

Legs: The legs are made of plastic and attached with a metal screw.

Overall quality: The frame is sturdy and the coiled mattress itself is a bit thin but decent. The cushions and fabric are not great quality.

 

Safety and Sustainability: ★★.5

    

The DHP Premium Sofa Bed is compliant with california chemical safety law CA Prop 65, and the mattress is void of all flame-retardant chemicals.

 

While the company does not specify a max volatile organic compound (VOC) concentration, Dorel Home Products’ website says that the mattress may offgas upon opening.

 

I did not see any information on the sustainability of product sourcing.

As mentioned, this DHP Sofa Bed is an Amazon pullout couch top seller and comes with free delivery (even without Prime).

 

It is delivered in 27.5"H x 30.5"W x 46.5"L box and weighs 143.5 pounds (126.7 when out of box).

    

The sleeper sofa comes in three parts; the sofa bed itself and two arms, as well as the seat cushions. The weight of the sofa makes it cumbersome to move and assembly took me about 45 minutes to an hour.

Ultimately, as far as sleeper sofas go, this is a very affordable option. The sofa itself could be more comfortable put the pull out bed was surprisingly comfortable. I’d say this is a good option for budget shoppers looking for a sleeper sofa.
